Public seminar „Local Media Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Environment“ in Portorož
The SEE Digi.TV national public seminar »Local Media Opportunities and Challenges in the Digital Environment« will be held in Portorož, on the 30th of May 2012. The event is organised by Post and Electronic Communications Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (APEK) and is addressing the Slovenian public, particularly stakeholders from the field of broadcasting, local radio and television, new media services and policy makers. The seminar has been conceived as a moderated discussion, structured around the highlights provided by the keynote speakers.
The opening speech of the APEK Director General Mr Franc Dolenc will be followed by presentation of the SEE Digi.TV project and outline of the purpose and content of the seminar, delivered by the Project Manager Ms Tanja Kerševan Smokvina. Mr Damir Hajduk from the Croatian Agency of Electronic Media will then present the challenges the Croatian local and regional broadcasting media are facing after the transition to digital terrestrial television and explain the policy measures aimed at their support. Subsequently, Mr Bernard Dubuisson from the Belgian regulator Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel will talk about how they address the specificities of local and community media in Belgium, while Mr Marcel Betzel from the Dutch regulator Commissaariat voor de Media will describe the local media market in the Netherlands and the regulatory framework that applies to this field.
As all speakers are active participants of the European platform of regulatory authorities (EPRA), whose one of the two annual meetings is taking place at the invitation of APEK in Portorož immediately after the SEE Digi.TV national public seminar, they will be invited to share with the Slovenian public also some highlights of the discussion on local and community media that is currently taking place within the EPRA.
